REMINDERS:
- Please ensure you do not “unclick” newsfeed on Parent Portal or you will not be able to receive important info from us including emergency information. When Taina sets up your account, she sets it so that you receive newsfeed from us but some parents change it.
- Please inform us if your child has a doctor’s appointment if it relates to any health concerns and provide a doctor’s note if there is anything we need to add, change, amend or be updated on so that we can provide the best care possible
STAFF SPOTLIGHT:
Beginning each month in our newsletter, we will choose staff members to focus on & share some insight about them so that you can know your teachers just a little bit better!
This month it is Mr. Gabe. He is one of our amazing supply staff! He has been shovelling all the snow in the mornings. Gabe is Ms. Julie’s son and he is doing a bachelor’s degree in Honours Mathematics and economics at the University of Ottawa. Gabe has been with us for four months. We are so lucky to have him on our team! His co-workers describe him as:
“kind, reliable, patient, nice, funny, flexible”
INFANT:
Love is in the air! We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Monday February 14th with a variety of different activities. Please wear red and pink on that day. Children will be able to bring in Valentine’s cards for their friends (if you wish to address the card, please write “to my friend” or just sign the card. We have a total of 6 children.
We will be celebrating Lunar New Year on February 1st. We will be learning about the Asian culture through pictures and art. Families are more than welcome to bring in any items or books to share with the class (please label everything).
Other special days:
- Feb 23 – Pink Shirt Day
- Feb 24 – Toboggan Day (we will use the toboggans from the centre)
TODDLERS:
Welcome February, the shortest month!
We have exciting activities and programming starting with look up in the sky (birds, planes, helicopters, moon and sun), animals, love and friendship – we will distribute valentine’s day cards on the 14th. Please put who the card is from and the children will deliver them. Toddler 1 has 10 children and Toddler 2 has 13 children. We finish the month off with space.
We will be celebrating Lunar New Year on February 1st. The children will get to see and observe the Asian culture through pictures and books. If any families have any books or items to share with the class, you are more than welcome to bring them in (please label everything).
We will also explore and learn more about letter, numbers, shapes and colours this month. The toddlers will continue to gain independence by putting on and taking off their snowpants, coats, hats and shoes. A gentle reminder to have extra clothing (pants, shirts, underwear, socks) for those wet days.
Our special theme days for the centre are:
- Feb 14 – Valentine’s day party/wear red or pink
- Feb 23 – pink shirt day
- Feb 24- sled day (using sleds from the centre)
PRESCHOOL:
It is the month of love. There is absolutely no better time of the year to tell you all how much we love and value your children.
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Monday February 14th with a little party. Wear something red and pink. The children will listen to stories about kindness and love, as well as learning new finger play songs. Let’s get those fine motor skills working!
If you wish to bring in cards, please just write who the card is from and the children will deliver them to their friends. Preschool 1 has 23 children and preschool 2 has 16 children.
