Preschool 1&2: October is an exciting month of transitions and celebrations. We look forward to our annual tradition
of celebrating Thanksgiving with a delicious turkey lunch and tasty treats. As we transition to cooler weather we would remind you to bring weather appropriate clothing for your child. Layers are a good solution this time of year when the weather can be
unpredictable. There are still some families who have not brought in their family photos. We hang these photos on our family tree and the children are very excited and happy when they go over and see them. This helps them develop a sense of belonging and connect their world between home and daycare. It helps children communicate to the teachers and peers about their family and their special family outings. This month we will be discussing and watching the Fall season change. Our literacy program has many new books about the colored leaves falling. We also have been working hard making a few new flannel stories
with apples and pumpkins. Watch out for the hungry monster. The children will have a chance to feed the silly monsters some rocks, beads, sticks and pom poms.We are excited to see their fine motor skills put to good use. With the approach of Halloween we will be creating creepy but fun art. We will also be adding pumpkins, spiders and ghosts to the parachute games.
Sensory play is perfect at Halloween and will get messy and very silly. The children will develop language and explore their senses. We can’t wait to see all of you at the farm to pick a pumpkin and have fun on the wagon ride. Don’t forget our annual trick or treating to the stores in the mall. The children just love this adventure and showing off their costumes. Last month we had a real fire drill practice and the children did amazing. They stopped everything and walked to the door. They were quick and calm. We are so proud of them.
