Homemade Ice Cream - In a Bag!!

August 10, 2022

Have you ever made your own ice cream, in a bag?! This fun and hands on activity includes a combination of solid ice crystals, liquid milk fat, and air bubbles. Making ice cream this was is a fun and easy way for children to investigate how matter is changed by heating and cooling. Our children were asked questions about how the salt and the ice help form the actual ice cream! Our children are investigating, making observations, and collecting and analyzing data!

Our children were given the opportunity to measure, pour, shake and even taste their creation! Yummy!

The importance of Math and Science in the Early Years is critical and essential for lifelong learning, and making it fun is what gives children those memorable experiences that truly stick with them throughout their lives.

The ice cream turned out amazing! We added sprinkles and it was a delicious treat for a hot day! Our educators even added to the learning with some fun STEM activities about scooping ice cream, the possibilities are endless!

Tip: This can be a completely allergen friendly activity! Instead of using regular milk, use almond milk!
