What better way to cool down during out hot Canadian summers than to engage in some fun water play!
We love Summer, but we also love staying cool while enjoying the outdoors! This Summer, we decided to bring out a variety of water play toys, activities and even a giant unicorn sprinkler! Water play is a blast, but did you know how water play can actually teach children?
When children engage in water play, not only are they keeping their body temperatures down but they are also developing their gross motor skills as they run through sprinklers and climb up and down small water slides and throw water balloons! They are developing their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination skills as they perform actions like pouring, scrubbing and navigating around water play spaces. They learn a lot about cause and effect and problem solving skills as they pour water into funnels, that flow through tubes and eventually end up somewhere else!
Water play can also facilitate social skill development as our children are learning how critical it is to share, cooperate and take turns!
