Our preschoolers were very interested in how a plant grows! So our educators thought what better way to show them exactly how something grows, then to plant their very own seeds to grow!
Children who garden learn responsibility, patience, perseverance, and how to deal with disappointment if their garden doesn’t grow the way they expected it to.
Planting seeds also enriches children’s lives as it encourages them to eat healthier! Half the fun of gardening is being able to eat what you grow! Gardening and planting seeds also builds a sense of confidence and accomplishment as they watch their little plants grow thanks to them continuing to water their plants daily. Our children are given the opportunity to do this entire hands on activity themselves from start to finish, to maintenance. Our children are offered spray bottles and they daily water their plants! They know they have a responsibility and they absolutely love having that sense of autonomy.
