Dramatic Play in Tykes 1!!

December 21, 2023

In the Tykes 1 room, we all enjoy dramatic play. We enjoy using our imaginations to create a small world to play in. Usually, all stores and jobs are for the grown-ups, but when we do dramatic play, it’s our turn!

During dramatic play, children emulate what they see at home or in the outside world. Whether that’s parents caring for a child or sibling, or the goings-on whilst grocery shopping with parents. The Tykes 1 teachers love to provide dramatic play experiences for our children, they have been baristas in the coffee shop, arranging beautiful bouquets in the flower shop, and doctors in our clinic to name a few.

Dramatic play teaches us social skills like how to work as a team. It teaches us how money works and how numbers add together.

We work on our fine motor skills when we concentrate hard not to spill the coffee for our customers. Gross Motor skills come into play when we are walking with our flower bouquet to deliver to our clients who ordered. We are constantly growing and learning and we need to learn about adult life in a fun and playful way as we become grown-up ourselves.
