How sensory activities can enhance language development!

November 5, 2021

Sensory activities are first and foremost lots of fun! They provide an opportunity for children to activate and explore their senses through seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. When the senses activate, children start to think, learn and compare these sensory objects with their environment. Multiple senses stimulate and activate at the same time and help to build nerve connections in the brain.

This network of stimulation helps children learn descriptive words which leads to the development of language. Sensory play helps develop cognitive skills, motor skills, and problem-solving skills through touch, pouring, sticking, squishing etc. It promotes self-discovery and encourages children to explore new things in their surroundings which in turn helps with a child’s social and emotional development too.

Sensory play and activities are an important part of a child’s development and always a fun way for children to explore!
