Preschool fun at Tiny Hoppers Orleans

During the month of April we focused on improving the alphabet recognition skills of our preschoolers. We practiced identifying the  first letters of their names during circle time, and also practiced writing individual letters on the white board. This had the effect of also helping the children develop more control with their fine motor skills.

During activity time they traced the letters in their names. This gave them opportunities to familiarize themselves with how their name looks, and to take some steps towards being able to write their names on their own. They also did letter matching activities, which let them demonstrate their observational skills, and sorting skills.
Over all by focusing on alphabet and literacy skills this month this helps them develop the skills needed to recognize common words when looking at books and labels in the environment. To build upon the skills the children worked on this month we will continue to incorporate literacy based activities in the following months.
