At Tiny Hoppers Kanata North, we strive to be an all inclusive, welcoming environment. From our children to our staff, we have a wide variety of cultures to learn from, and to learn about! Educating our children on different cultures and traditions expands their knowledge, as well as their inclusiveness in the world they are growing in.
This year, our children celebrated National Indigenous Day by partaking in some great fine motor and cognitive activities. They enhanced their fine motor skills by threading beads onto pipe cleaners for their dream catchers they made. Dream catchers are very symbolic to Indigenous people as they strongly believed they protected their people, especially children, from any harm during a restful nights sleep.
Teaching children diversity promotes respect and celebration of differences in society as a whole, and offers new learning experiences, while also showing them that we are all alike, even when we are different.
