April Showers Bring May Flowers!

April 24, 2023

Spring has sprung here at Kanata North! We are so excited for the warmer weather and sunshine, that we decided to plan all sorts of activities all about Springtime!

Our children had a blast working on their fine motor skills by “planting” the flowers into the colanders, focusing on their math and cognitive skills while counting the “eggs” and placing them in the birds nests, running their very own flower shop, searching for all the bugs that come out during Spring, and enjoying a sensory bin for birds with seeds and a birdhouse!

Teaching children about Seasons shows them that things are constantly changing. Our weather changes frequently and children love to know, “why, and how?” Time can be a difficult concept for children to understand. The changing of the seasons are very distinct, such as snow in the winter, rain in the spring, heat in the summer, and falling leaves in the fall. Visually differentiating these things for young children allows them to learn the characteristics of each changing season, and relate personal experiences to them in order to better help them understand the way timing works.
