Swimming Fish Experiment

March 25, 2014

All that is needed for this fun experiment is a large, clear punch bowl, blue food colouring, raisons, baking soda and water.  Fill the punch bowl half full with water.  Fill the rest of the bowl to 3/4 full with vinegar.  Add some blue food colouring and 1 cup of baking soda.  Drop in a whole bunch of raisons.  Watch carefully, the raisons will begin to dance around like swimming fish.  Let the children watch with magnifying glasses or try to catch the raisons with their hands or small nets.  When they stop dancing, just add some more baking soda to get them going again.  So much fun!
