We have some incredibly talented and creative educators here at THKN!

Our toddler have shown a great interest in food and planting lately, as well as reading their favorite story book “Carrot Soup”. So of course our amazing teachers created this real life story book activity! Our toddlers harvested many different types of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, potatoes and even radish! They had to get their hands dirty and dig and pull! As they were doing this, our educator was reading the story to them. They had a blast digging and were so excited to pull real life veggies from the “ground”!

After the big harvest, of course our toddlers needed to make their very own carrot soup! They were given the proper utensils, and with some hand over hand help, they were able to cut up their veggies using a plastic knife! Our toddlers helped through the entire process of making the soup. They cut the veggies, added them to the pots, added the liquid and stirred away! Once it was time to cook their soup, our wonderful chef helped out with the stove.

After it was cooked, of course they enjoyed a yummy and healthy bowl of soup, that they made themselves! Please take a look at our reflection pictures to show you exactly how and why our educators chose to do this activity, along with showing off what our children are learning in this hands on fun cooking activity!
