Connection to Learning
Children have shown great creativity and curiosity while building highways, train tracks, and ramps. These experiences spark a sense of wonder about how transportation works in the world around them.
As children encounter transportation in their daily lives, they develop a disposition for inquiry and exploration. They begin to ask questions, make connections, and deepen their understanding of how things move and function.
Educators support this learning by introducing new ideas and concepts about transportation, adapting experiences across classrooms to reflect age-appropriate interests and developmental stages.
Reflection
To extend this activity, we will incorporate additional materials such as traffic lights and create more dynamic structures using ramps and vertical surfaces.
We will also introduce real-world elements like sidewalk signs, bus passes, and plane tickets to enrich the play experience. Families are encouraged to share photos of places they have visited to help children make personal connections to transportation.
With upcoming field trips and OSC introducing our programming, children will also have the opportunity to observe and experience buses in their daily routine.
