Today, our toddlers had lots of fun exploring ice chunks by using child-safe hammers to break them into smaller pieces and loading them into trucks. This hands-on sensory activity encouraged the development of fine and gross motor skills as children practiced grasping tools, coordinating their movements, and strengthening their hand muscles. They also explored cause-and-effect relationships, problem-solving, and early scientific thinking as they observed how the ice changed when struck.
As the children worked alongside their peers, they practiced turn-taking, communication, and cooperative play, helping to build important social-emotional skills. Open-ended experiences like this support toddlers’ natural curiosity and allow them to learn through active exploration at their own pace.
