Summer is a season filled with so many opportunities for exciting and meaningful learning. At Tiny Hoppers Richmond East, we follow an emergent learning approach, where our educators observe children’s interests and create experiences that build on what the children are currently curious about. Through outdoor exploration, sensory experiences, and messy play, children are exploring the world around them with excitement.
For our Squirts classes, summer is full of exciting firsts! Crawling in the sand box, splashing in water, exploring different textures, and watching the world around them helps build sensory learning, language, and helps build strong connections with their environment. Our Tots classes thrives on hands-on learning. Whether mixing mud, painting, digging in the garden, or exploring water play, children are learning through creativity, problem-solving skills, and independence. In our Tykes classes, children get the opportunity to participate in deeper investigations. Learning with loose parts, gardening, and a variety of other outdoor projects encourage children to ask questions, work together, and develop early science, math, and literacy skills in meaningful ways.
This summer, we are excited to encourage children in all age groups to find joy with exploring messy play, and all the learning that comes with it. Messy play and outdoor learning are important parts of our program because they encourage children to take risks, express themselves, strengthen their bodies, and develop confidence through explorations. At Tiny Hoppers Richmond East, we are teaching confident learners who are making discoveries through play, exploration, and the excitement of being outside!
