This October, Tiny Hoppers Richmond East enjoyed a fall morning at our Parent Participation Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch! It was a day filled with excitement, learning, pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, and muddy puddles!
Even though the weather brought some rain, that didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time together. With boots, muddy buddies, and umbrellas, our group enjoyed a wagon ride that took us through the fields on a scenic ride toward the pumpkins. Along the way, we were treated to live music by a performer playing an instrument, and saw cows and llamas!
When we arrived at the pumpkin patch, each family had the chance to pick out their very own pumpkin to take home. There were big ones, tiny ones, round ones and misshaped ones in a variety of colours! Some children continued walking into the field and came across some large and seemingly alive dinosaurs! Families also enjoyed the flower gardens which offered some beautiful photo opportunities with their loved ones.
The fun doesn’t stop at the farm! In the coming days, our classrooms will be incorporating the collected pumpkins into their classroom curriculum activities. Our Squirts and Tots classes may explore their pumpkins through sensory play and painting activities. Our Tykes classes might participate in exciting science experiments using their pumpkins, including learning about sinking and floating or observing the life cycle of a pumpkin.
We want to extend a big thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make this field trip such a memorable experience, and we look forward to sharing future events with you! Wishing everyone a happy fall!
