On Friday May 9th, Tiny Hoppers Richmond East celebrated our Mom’s, Auntie’s, Grandma’s and loved ones. The school was filled with laughter, love, special treats and handmade gifts, as we celebrated the families of our children during our annual Mother’s Day event.
Leading up the event, children and their teachers spent time making special gifts, talking about why their Mommy’s are special to them, and making homemade decorations for the classroom. Talking about family was built into the school’s curriculum days before the celebration, as the children learned more about each other’s family members.
The event began in the afternoon, as families were welcomed in to celebrate. As our Mom’s arrived to school, they were greeted at the front door with a special snack. When they arrived to their children’s classrooms, the family members excitedly chatted together before being invited in. Some classes sung a special “Happy Mother’s Day to You” song as their Moms entered, while other children greeted their loved one with a big hug and a special gift.
From painted flowerpots to handprint cards, hand painted tote bags and pillow covers, children gave their gift to their Mom’s. One of the highlights in some classes was their photo booth, where families posed for keepsake photos with fun props and big hugs. Some classroom activities included a tea party, making rainbow fruit cups, making tissue paper flowers and crowns, and enjoying a variety of art activities. Each classroom was filled with laughter and conversation as the feeling of community grew within our school.
We are grateful to all the families who joined us and helped make this Mother’s Day celebration so special. Events like these remind us of the strong sense of community we’re building here at Tiny Hoppers Richmond East. To all our amazing moms, thank you for your kindness, strength, and endless support. We appreciate each and every one of you and the joy you bring to our community!
