At Tiny Hoppers Richmond East, we believe that one of the most important aspects of early childhood education is supporting social development. This includes helping children understand the value of kindness, empathy, and friendship. One of the ways we achieve this is through activities that encourage positive social interactions, and one of the highlights is our annual “Be a Friend Day.”
By incorporating kindness activities into our curriculum, we aim to teach children the importance of treating others with respect, kindness, and love. When children practice kindness, they not only learn to connect with their peers, but they also begin to understand how to be a part of a community.
“Be a Friend Day” is a day dedicated to celebrating friendship and teaching kindness in multiple ways, that we practice throughout the year. On “Be a Friend Day,” children participate in a variety of activities designed to promote positivity and connection, such as “filling each other’s buckets,” creating a group art project, searching for and sharing hearts, and participating in circle time where they learn ways of showing kindness to their friends.
Through activities on “Be a Friend Day” and daily kindness practices, we are supporting children’s learning through social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. When children learn to be kind, considerate, and empathetic, they can build positive connections with their peers.
From sharing toys to helping a friend who has fallen down, our classrooms are filled with opportunities to practice kindness every day.
At Tiny Hoppers Richmond East, we are proud to watch as our students become friends with each other, and begin to understand the power of kindness!
