What Happened?
The children were excited to discover a colourful car racing setup in the classroom. As they approached the provocation, they eagerly selected vehicles and explored the different racing lanes. Some children raced side by side with their peers, while others carefully guided their cars through the pathways and obstacles. Throughout the experience, the children laughed, cheered, and used words such as ‘go!’, ‘fast!’, and ‘vroom!’ while engaging in play.
What Learning Did I See?
The children demonstrated curiosity, persistence, and problem-solving skills as they explored movement, speed, and direction. They strengthened fine motor skills while pushing and maneuvering their vehicles and practiced important social skills by sharing materials, taking turns, and playing alongside peers.

Reflection
This provocation encouraged meaningful exploration and collaborative play. The open ended materials allowed the children to investigate at their own pace while building confidence, communication skills, and creativity.
Where Could This Learning Go Next?
Adding ramps, tunnels, bridges, and loose parts would allow the children to design their own racetracks and continue exploring movement, speed, and problem solving through play.
