We were invited by the Alberta Immigrant Women & Children Centre to give a presentation to their clients about childcare in Alberta. During the presentation, we discussed different childcare models including private, non-profit, and day-home options. We also provided information about tools for finding childcare and outlined the services that some centres may offer, such as meals and extra programming. Additionally, we guided our audience through the government website and the subsidy process, as well as the affordability grant.
As part of our presentation, we shared insights into working in the childcare sector and what a typical day for an Early Childhood Educator might entail. The presentation was well-received, sparking engaging conversations with the clients and providing an opportunity to collaborate with others. It also allowed us to reflect on what makes our centre an excellent place for children and families, and how proud we are to work there.
