Paper bag vest art that represents the Indigenous peoples. This vest was often used in educational settings as a craft activity. To create a simple representation of a vest, materials that were readily available were used. This craft allows for creative expression and learning about the Indigenous cultures. We decided to design our own, in their honour. For this activity, children used their fine and gross motor skills to open the lids of the felts and to draw on the vests.
Although paper bag vests aren’t authentic Indigenous clothing, they can be used in a fun and educational way to introduce children to the concept of Indigenous cultures clothing and symbols.
