Parallel Play

February 3, 2022

Parallel Play. This type of play is common in toddlers but can occur in any age group. Children will be in the same room with other children, they will play with similar toys, but they do not play with each other. They are observant of others and may copy how others are playing but seldom interact with them. They are playing beside them rather than with them.

Our staff at Tiny Hoppers work very diligently to encourage our children to move from Parallel Play to Associative Play. We offer toys and activities that encourage this play. We play our activities every week and make sure we focus on our Observations of the children from the week before. Our planning of what goes out of the floor for the children to play with is a well thought out plan. Our focus is to foster and encourage their play.
