Our preschool class at Tiny Hoppers Sportsworld has been interested in watching the birds outdoors. To develop this interest further, our teachers planned experiences and activities to expand on the learning. They were given the opportunity to explore bird seed, bird feeders, and feathers. Adding in spoons, trays and tongs allows children to scoop materials, sort them, and practice their fine motor skills, while enhancing their sensory experience with different textures. The possibilities for play while learning about birds are endless – color sorting/recognition, differentiating textures, practicing fine motor skills, counting, and more!
