Worms!

June 17, 2025

Spring is in the air and with Spring comes rain, and with rain comes WORMS!

Our children here have ben noticing more worms outside in the puddles as the weather warms up! With the rainy days we’ve had, the worms are out to play! They’ve shown so much interest in worms in the wild, so we decided to bring in some worms for the children to gently explore and see up close!

An activity like this comes with endless opportunities of learning fun! The children learned all about what worms eat, and what eats worms! They got to explore their slimy textures while wearing gloves, as well as exploring a worms habitat, dirt!

Our skilled educators thought of how they could extend the learning into different domains. They focused on things like fine motor skills by using tweezers to feed the birds as well as stringing pipe cleaner through a strainer, using magnet wands to find the hidden (pipe cleaner) worms in the sand, and even a Science experiment showing our friends how worms grow when they get wet!

We love worms and we loved this hands on activity!
