Adding a splash of color to our curriculum!

April 6, 2022
Have you ever wondered why color is so important for young children? Having a strong knowledge of different colors comes in good use for the many situations that children will become exposed to in their lives. For example, significant visual hues such as red and blue have benefits outside the classroom! Red is a good visual cue for danger, such as a red light or a stop sign. Red and blue on sink taps help children to differentiate the different temperature safety zones. Teaching colors is best done through visual play. Our toddlers love stickers, so our educators set up a color matching activity with stickers and different colored paper! Our toddlers were given a colored sticker and had to match the color to the right piece of paper. An activity like this is a great example of the benefits of Emergent Curriculum! Our toddlers love stickers and colors, so this activity is sure to be a lasting memory that will help them with their color recognition skills!
