Black History/Valentines Day and Chinese New Year

February 3, 2021

Its going to be a very busy and fun month here at Tiny Hoppers Findlay Creek.  We have already started introducing Black History month and working on Chinese New Year.  We will be hosting a masquerade party for the daycare to help celebrate valentines day.  Even during Covid we are tying to have fun while maintaining a safe environment for the children and staff.

Did you know that Mr Garret Morgan invented the traffic light.

Here at Tiny Hoppers we have already done some activities to incorporate Mr Garret and Madame Walker

Art: Traffic Lights

Materials needed: red, yellow, green and orange or black paper, scissors, and glue sticks.

Have the children cut out large rectangles out of the orange or black paper for the traffic lights.

Have the children cut or tear red, yellow, and green paper and glue in the appropriate area on the traffic lights.

Gross Motor skills: Teaching the children how to play this game!  Use a visual aid: a traffic light! Hold up a red light for them to stop, yellow to walk slow and green to GO!

Madame Walker

Dramatic Play: Hair salon

Provide hair combs, brushes, dolls with hair, chairs, foam curlers, play hair dyers, spray bottles with water and empty shampoo bottles.

Chinese New Year: we will be doing many art activities such as fans and puppets and enjoying some yummy fortune cookies.
