Recently, the toddlers have been loving the book “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and engaging in shared reading with their educators! We always follow the story with the ABC song during circle time. Building on their interest and growing love for letters, we set up a variety of letter-themed activities for the toddlers to explore today.

In the tuff tray, the toddlers participated in an alphabet search, digging through the sand to discover hidden letters. We also added cups and shovels, which the toddlers loved using to scoop, pour, and create their own sandcastles and other creations. One friend, I, even made a birthday cake! She began singing “Happy Birthday,” and soon, all the friends around her joined in and sang along together.

At the table, the toddlers explored and molded playdough in a variety of ways. Some friends incorporated the leaves into their creations, while others enjoyed using the playdough knives and rollers to cut, flatten, and shape the dough. These hands-on experiences encouraged creativity while supporting fine-motor development.

At the window, the toddlers enjoyed tracing the letters A, B, C, and D in paint-filled sensory bags. They especially enjoyed squishing the bottoms of the bags and discovering the marbles hidden inside! This provided a fun sensory experience while encouraging letter recognition, early writing movements, and hand-strengthening.
