At Tiny Hoppers Richmond East, we are committed to providing a strong, connected community within our classrooms and families. One of the ways we strengthen these relationships is through our annual “Be a Friend Day” celebration. This meaningful event allows educators to reflect on the connections within their classrooms and support children’s social development. Throughout the day, children explore what it means to care for one another by “filling each other’s buckets,” creating friendship potions for their classmates, and designing friendship posters to parade through our community.
In our Squirts and Tots classrooms, children are beginning to discover who they are and how they relate to the world around them. They are introduced to social skills such as taking turns and sharing through classroom experiences. Whether they are creating cards to give to a friend, designing heart-shaped t-shirts together, or learning new words like “care” and “kindness,” these moments help build empathy and connection.
Within our Tykes program, children deepen their understanding of friendship by reflecting on how they show care and what it means to be a good friend. Through meaningful conversations and collaborative projects, they explore responsibility and respect for themselves and others. These experiences help strengthen classroom relationships and also help build confident and capable children!
