Tiny Hopper Olympics

The infants at Tiny Hoppers Lisgar celebrated the Olympics with their own medals and a closing ceremony.  After a fun-filled week of developmentally appropriate gross motor activities mimicking the games, their achievements were recognized as they posed on the podiums.  Many households watched the Olympics on television and cheered on the athletes as a family.   We even had a special Olympian guest who brought in their two gold and one silver medal from playing on the Women’s Canadian Hockey Team.  The infants, educators and even some family members gathered on the carpet with our guest to explore the medals.  The medals were heavy and shiny.  They had smooth surfaces and etched designs that were interesting to rub little fingers across.
In the coming years, this will be a world event to which the children will be exposed.  This is a great way to introduce them to it at an early age by expanding what they see, hear and touch at Tiny Hoppers with their educators and peers.
Maybe one day in the future we will see a Tiny Hopper at the Olympics!
