Learning story – Building House

NOTICING

LP, I noticed you were building a house using the green rods and purple connectors. You thoughtfully created two rooms — one for yourself and one for your friend I. Soon, L, M, and X joined and asked to share the connectors. At first, you felt upset and did not want to share. L then suggested that he could help build a separate room for himself. After listening, you agreed. As you continued building together, you created five rooms in total so each friend had their own space. In the end, everyone was smiling and happy.

NAMING

You showed creativity and planning skills as you designed your house with separate rooms. When challenges came up, you worked through your feelings and practiced problem-solving. You demonstrated growing social-emotional skills by listening to your friends’ ideas and deciding to include everyone. This experience showed cooperation, communication, and leadership as you expanded your idea to welcome others.

NURTURING

To extend this learning, we can explore drawing house plans before building or counting how many rooms we need for our friends. We can also talk about sharing materials and working as a team. I wonder what other buildings you might create together next time. How can we make sure everyone feels included in our play?
