At Tiny Hoppers Newmarket South Child Care Centre, Valentine’s Day is about more than hearts and crafts — it’s about nurturing kindness, friendship, and connection in meaningful ways.
Throughout the day, our children explore love and caring through hands-on activities designed to support social-emotional development.
They create beautiful Valentine-themed art using paint, collage materials, and loose parts, strengthening fine motor skills while expressing creativity. Children also practiced early literacy by recognizing their names on Valentine cards and sharing messages with friends, building confidence and communication skills.
In our classrooms, educators encourage conversations about what it means to be kind, how to show appreciation, and how to include others. Whether it was helping a friend, sharing materials, or offering a hug, children demonstrated empathy and compassion — essential foundations for lifelong learning.
Sensory invitations with heart-shaped materials, red and pink play dough, and themed loose parts supported curiosity and exploration, allowing children to engage through touch, movement, and imagination. These experiences align with How Does Learning Happen?, supporting children’s sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression.
At Tiny Hoppers Newmarket South, we believe celebrations like Valentine’s Day are opportunities to strengthen relationships, build community, and foster a love of learning — one caring moment at a time.
💌 Thank you to our families for partnering with us in nurturing kindness, joy, and connection every day.
