Following the children’s interest in pumpkins, using real pumpkin seeds, the children arranged them on pumpkin mats, counted, and matched them with numbers they recognized. This hands-on experience emerged naturally from their own investigation and supported early math thinking, including number recognition and one-to-one correspondence. The activity also fostered focus and encouraged children to make meaningful connections between their play, observations, and the natural world.
