These mountains really peaked some interest for the children. We love the educators creativity when creating this opportunity to explore a different medium. The use of vertical space encourages children to develop hand eye coordination as it brings the task closer to the child’s eyes. They have a better view of what they are doing and contributes to their spatial awareness. This also assists with stability in their shoulder and elbow – they’re working against gravity to continue making long brush strokes up and down the mountains. The children thought painting mountains was really fun. We’re inclined to agree.
