Toys, blocks, sensory bins, learning cards are some of the few items that come into mind as you engage your little one into early learning. An early childhood educator plays a significant role and has a major impact on a young mind. Leaders in early childhood education enter the profession with a deep love of children; their skills consist of – patience, organization, creativity, communication and flexibility. Many have a calling to work in education, but it takes a special kind of educator to work with young children in their first five years.

Young children are full of energy and curiosity. Early childhood educators bring tons of patience to the classroom to keep children engaged at all times. As ECE’s we should be able to adapt lesson plans into concepts that children can understand and follow by playing games, performing activities, circle time, singing and other techniques throughout the day. Children are sponges at this early age, but they are also new to learning. We must be able to communicate with young learners at their level. Little children can experience joy in exploring and learning only when they feel secure. We need to build a unique relationship with children by being aware of their likes and dislikes, their strengths and areas they need support with. We often need to communicate at the child’s eye level to make them feel they are being understood and heard and instill a sense of security. We build a warm and caring relationship with each child and their family to understand their temperament and to establish routines and transitions appropriate to their age.

Education is not a field that anyone can take up just to fulfill their career, one must have a passion for teaching young children!
