MARCH NEWSLETTER

OWNERS:

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION:  We are giving a lot of notice of the graduation ceremony…Friday June 26 in the late afternoon. It will be a big party with music, games & some amazing food.  Once the graduation ceremony is over,  all the parents & children in the centre may join in on the festivities where we will hold our huge raffle fundraiser for Shelter Movers.  Last year we raised over $1600. and are hoping to beat that this year!!  Further details to follow.

DIRECTOR:

Beginning each month in our newsletter, we will choose one staff member to focus on & share some insight about them so that you can know your teachers just a little bit better!  This month it is Ms Laura, she is one of our amazing infant teachers, but has worked in each class.    It will be 4 years in September 2020 since Ms Laura has been with us. We are so lucky to have her on our team!  Her co-workers describe her as:

“compassionate, helpful/reliable, caring, giving, loving, patient, polite, chatty, smiley, supportive, calm, considerate, loyal, lovely, thoughtful, someone you can depend on and she goes above and beyond.”

PRESCHOOL:

March is here and we can smell, feel and see spring is on its way. This month Preschool will be busy getting ready and talking about our outdoor garden. Already!.. why yes it’s time to plant the little seeds so they can start to grow into big plants.

Our little worms will be busy helping us compost in the garden. We will have a few new stories and flannel board activities about birds and worms. The joy on the children’s faces when they get to participate and be part of the story is priceless.

Flannels stories help with creativity and imagination. It is hands on and a great fine motor activity. Flannel adds the sense of touch and helps understand stories in a visual manner. We are going to be working on the importance of composting, reducing and recycling to help our planet grow big and healthy.

As the warm weather approaches, we are going to go out and look for some worms and insects which help our garden grow with fun science experiments.

TODDLERS:

Fingers crossed that Winter is almost over and Spring is around the corner! We have lots of fun activities based on themes like “nursery rhymes”, “space”, “gardening” and “ABCs”.

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Monday March 2nd. The children will do fun themed activities and have a tasty snack.

St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday March 17th and we  will be celebrating with lots of green activities.

The children will also begin developing their gardens this month. We will plant big and small seeds, explore dirt and water and use our fine motor skills to pour water into our plants!

INFANTS:

We are going to start preparing for spring by making some bean plants. We are going to explore science by seeing how the bean plants grow and talking about what bean plants need to grow!  We will also use literacy to explore colours, shapes and animals. We observed that the children enjoy listening to stories and singing songs! The infants have been choosing to read stories lately! We cannot wait for Spring!
