September Newsletter 2018

September 5, 2018

Director- Welcome new parents and returning parents! September is already upon us. We wish all the children much success this year with us. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that if your child will be in later (after 9 am) or absent, please call 613-822-4588 or email me [email protected]. I am in the centre daily from 7am until 4pm and Caron, one of the owners, is here until close at 5:30 pm. My office door is always open, if you have any questions/concerns.

Owner- Our renovations have started and the two new rooms are looking fantastic! This renovation will provide much needed spots for toddlers and infants. As well, we want to thank our loyal parents who have given us so many beautiful cards showing appreciation to the centre and our teachers for creating a loving second home for their children!

Tiny Tots-Week 1: This week we will talk about vegetables and fruits. We will count fruits (Cognitive/Numeracy) and we will identify which one is a fruit or vegetable (Cognitive).Week 2: We will learn about forms of transportation and we will match puzzle    pieces (Cognitive). What kind of    transportation do community workers use? (Social Studies)Week 3: This week we will talk about the Fall season. We will learn about leaves changing colours during this season (Science).Week 4: We will learn the colours of the rainbow (Cognitive). We will learn to mix colours to produce a different colour (Cognitive).

Tiny Tykes 1&2-As the warm weather is leaving us and the warm Fall colours arrive, we would like to welcome all our new and returning families to Preschool.  We will continue to work on name recognition and start letter recognition as well. We want to provide rich experiences for your children by exposing them to exciting and motivating activities in the classroom.  Please come communicate with all Preschool teachers any ideas, questions or concerns.

Working together, we can provide the best possible Preschooler experience for your child. Little children have lots of energy.  Trying to have them sit at a table for 30 minutes can be challenging. So this month in Preschool we are going to incorporate Math, Art, Literacy and Fine & Gross Motor activities into our name and letter activities:

  • Sorting/graphing apples
    (ie. shapes, sizes, colours)
  • Writing our names
    (holding a pencil properly)
  • Bobbing for apples
  • Apple Name Stamping
  • Playing with the parachute
  • Sandcastle competition
