August 2018 Newsletter

August 1, 2018

A message from the Owners:  Please mark Wednesday August 15th on your calendar for our annual summer BBQ! This event is to say thank you to the parents, goodbye to our Preschoolers that are leaving us and to raise funds for an amazing charity “Shelter Movers”. We were able to raise over $800 last year and are hoping to beat it this year! Stay tuned for more exciting news about our BBQ once we have finalized all the details!!

Notes from our Director:  Just a friendly reminder we are closed Monday August 6th for the civic holiday. We would like to wish all of our preschoolers who spent the summer with us, the best of luck with school starting in September. We are still selling stars ($2) for the Make A Wish Foundation all through this month.

Tiny Tots: Week 1 – The theme of this week is numbers. We will practice counting (Numeracy/Cognitive) and we will play how many balls? (Cognitive)

Week 2 – This week we will talk about butterflies. We will learn a new butterfly song (Cognitive), we will make butterfly crafts (Art and Creativity) and we will read books about butterflies. (Literature/ Cognitive)

Week 3 – We will focus on the alphabet for this week. We will sing the alphabet song (Cognitive), we will play find the letters (Gross Motor) and we will have a play-dough station to make letters. (Fine Motor)

Week 4 – It’s time for the jungle theme! We  will have a jungle animal sensory bin (Sensory) and make jungle animals. (Arts and Crafts)

Tiny Tykes 1&2:  It’s a busy month as we say goodbye to many of our preschoolers leaving for school. We will miss you and wish you continued success in Kindergarten! We would like to thank all of our families for their continued support and are grateful for entrusting your children in our care and to be a part of their development.

Get ready, get set and let’s enjoy the last month of summer! We will be focusing on “Language and Literacy”.

Kids love to learn when it has to do with their name. Learning to recognize, spell & write their name are all huge developmental milestones for preschoolers. This month we will be singing songs & doing spelling activities to help support this. Working on this at home is also very important.

Wear your favorite color on Wednesday August 22nd for our Rainbow theme day!

To celebrate our love for books, please bring in your children’s favorite book for the first week of August. We will be incorporating the books in fun activities, art, games, songs & story time. The books will be staying at daycare for a few days.

Our Cook: We tweaked the menu a little bit to accommodate the children. If you have any questions, feel free to chat with Miss Cheryl. For August’s International Day, we will be serving Chicken Chow Mein, a favorite of all the kids!
