November 2017 Newsletter

November 7, 2017

Words from the Director- October was a busy month, our Thanksgiving lunch was delicious, the Pumpkin Patch was fun and seeing the children in Halloween costumes made everything worthwhile!

In November, we are participating in Pyjama Patrol- collecting NEW pyjamas in sizes newborn to adult. The pyjamas will then be donated to The Children’s Aid Society and shelters that support women and children escaping domestic violence. There are over 1,500 children to reach out to this year. On Friday November 17th, the Tiny Tykes 1 & 2 and Friday November 24th, the Tiny Tots will be participating in Pyjama Day in which each child wearing their pyjamas is asked to donate at least 1 NEW set of pyjamas to this worthy cause.  We will also be participating in the Riverside South Christmas parade and will let you know more once the details have been finalized.

Our Tiny Tykes- October was a fun month, but not to worry we still have fun activities lined up for November!

Week of Nov 6th-10th:
Our classes will be working on Remembrance Day crafts; the Tiny Tykes will be making class wreaths, then a staff member will bring the wreaths downtown to lie on the grave of the unnamed soldier and take pictures to show the children.

Week of Nov 13th- 17th:
We will be doing an outdoor scavenger hunt- what are we going to be looking for?

Week of Nov 20th -24th:

Week of Nov 27th- Dec 1st:
We are hoping for a little bit of snow around this time so we can learn to recognize names in the snow

Tiny Tots-Over the past month the children showed interest in cars, dolls, babies, the outdoor play space, airplanes  and sports. For the month of November, we will be working on sharing, taking turns and making friends.  We will be learning colours, numbers, letters and shapes. Each week we have fun activities planned for the children:

Week of Nov 6th-10th:
We will be having sports week!

Week of Nov 13th-17th:
Is baby care week- please bring in a favourite baby or stuffy for your child to take care of.

Week of Nov 20th-24th:

Week of Nov 27th-Dec 1st:

Before and After School-For the month of November, we will have some fun activities for the children. The children have an interest in science experiments, puzzles/board games and crafts. We will be making special crafts for Remembrance Day; we will make our own puzzles, play word games and number games. We will also play a game called Think Fast where the children will have to find an item for each letter of the alphabet with the subject they pick. The children have been participating a lot in each activity and sharing their ideas.

Lastly a word from the Kitchen-I have posted a new fall menu in the front for everyone to see, if you have any questions concerning the menu, my kitchen door is always open!I am looking for some new ideas for International Day, on this day we pick a culture from a child in the center and create a meal for the children to try and enjoy. We are interested in trying new cuisine, so please share with us where your family is from and we will gladly incorporate it on our menu

Have a great month!
