Today we had pink shirt day but we also took the opportunity to talk extensively about Black History Month 🖤🤎 We celebrated some famous black inventors and what they made and contributed to! A circle time activity we did was we compared hands with each other and discussed the differences in colours; currently we don’t have any black children in our classroom, so we talked about others in the center we know and see. Then we put hands on our hearts and recognized we all have a heartbeat – we taught them that this means no matter the colour of someone’s skin, we treat all equally and kindly. Racism is a form of bullying, so not only are we wearing pink shirts, we are also celebrating black voices and people around the world 🌎🖤 Black history is prevalent all year round!

This month is black history month. Children used different skin color construction paper hearts to decorates hands to celebrate inclusion in our classroom.
