Beading, a fine motor activity

November 8, 2017

These children are using small open ended beads and pipe cleaners to create colourful jewelry.  The pipe cleaners add stability while their tiny fingers learn to grasp and thread the tiny beads onto the pipe cleaners.  In this activity the children focus on fine motor skills as they must use a pincer grasp to hold the pipe cleaner and the beads.  They are being creative with the colours and item they are making.  Most children choose to make something special for Mommy while others enjoy threading and then pushing all the beads off and continuing to thread again.

The children enjoyed this activity and were very proud to present a home made gift to Mommy!
